This an extended version of something that is mostly iPad instruments with a couple of live guitars on top.
Here is a new extended track based on something that was originally quite arhythmic.
Here is the first full length track based on stuff made during the past year. It basically is an expansion of two tracks (Blackout and Blackout II) now as 4 and a half minutes of music.
Today marks one year for having done a post every weekday without missing a post (some days I did catch up, but they are all there. Next up for 16 Bars will be 10-12 expanded versions of ideas composed with the hopes of publishing a full length (30 minute) album on iTunes before christmas.
There are two, connected composition things I'd never felt proficient at - vocal melodies and guitar solos. Returning to a simple book about rhythm and melody, I reminded myself of something I probably did not pay enough attention to during my college days - very intentional note selection based on the backing chord compassion, neighboring notes, repeating patterns, starting on the 1 (and not), ending with a 1 or 2 syllable melodic cadence, and more. Here is my first attempt at a simple melodic track following some Melody 101 rules.
Another iPad-only ditty. I used the 'autoplay' feature for two of the four guitar parts as well as the drummer for the drum track. The two organs, bass, and lead guitar were all performed on an iPad.
Another tune written on an airplane entirely in Garageband.
