I experienced a lunch item that I had never experienced before - pretzel-breading on a deep fried piece of chicken (which was then placed in a roll with cheese, lettuce, tomato, and mayo).

Here are two pages of notes I took during talks by Bonnie Stewart and Alan November at a wonderful conference - Innovate at The Ohio State University.
Recorded entirely on Garageband for iPad (no loops, all software instruments).
Reading a blog, in itself, is hardly worth reporting. But reading a blog that you’ve read before, while carrying in your mind a certain (local) problem you are trying to solve, is a way of working made possible by blending practice. On Friday, Sam and I will be doing another live demo - this time about using the draw fill to create cartoon animals. Using the tutorials from this website, it's really easy to create nice looking animals in Explain Everything. Here is a video of my drawing a cow. At the last meeting of my class at Teachers College, special guest Linda Vasu conducted a workshop on 'hacking the essay.' It was an interesting way to bring arts and engineering into understanding and expression in traditional humanities. We were asked to read a section from the Great Gatsby and do a series of sketches and drawings based on what we read - first literal and then increasingly more abstract. We also talked about windows and the role they have played in literature. I really enjoyed the challenge and wished a similar approach was used when I was wrestling with fiction back in high school. This a track for my appearance on WBAR's Ovation show with Dino Sossi.
I listened to about 3 hours of Canadian radio on my two drives between Calgary International Airport and Banff. I found two great stations - x92.9 and 93.7 - that I happily toggled between. A catchy song played on 92.9 and I had now way to write down the name of the song or the artist, but I did dictate one of the lyrics into my phone. When I got home, I posted a message on Twitter asking about it and was delighted to get a response almost immediately. I then bought the album. This was a really easy engagement that connected the listener, the artist, and the mediator in mutually beneficial ways. I got to listen to a song I liked and discover additional great music, the artist benefited from a purchase of their work, and the station modeled the attention they are paying to listeners.
In the video below, I use some of the new features in Explain Everything to create a title slide for a presentation I am working on for next week. I use the Draw Fill tool, the shape recognition, and the option to display taps and gestures. I also use the inspector to do some ungrouping and duplicating. |
