Steve and I had the pleasure of appearing on Bradley Chambers' and Fraser Speirs' Out of School Podcasta couple of weeks ago. The full recording can be found by clicking here.

I'm working on an video artifact to put in the background of chapter openings in a multi-touch book for iBook. I'll speed this track up in iMovie, but basically I used the same map tracing technique as I wrote about previously, but then added in flags that were made by contributors. I'll use the zoomed in versions for the contributors and the whole map for the book.
Last week I dove into Hackers: Heroes of the Computer Revolution - 25th Anniversary Edition. It is history, storytelling, humor, and inspiration all packed into one terrific read about how the technologies we all have gotten used to came to be and about many of the minds who "hacked" to create some amazing things.
I was asked to create a brief intro video for a conference next March. I did it in a sketch style, but first I drafted a script, recorded it, and then made different items appear as I was talking by pausing the recording (using the Mixed mode in EE).
Here is the first full length track based on stuff made during the past year. It basically is an expansion of two tracks (Blackout and Blackout II) now as 4 and a half minutes of music.
We were asked by the Alley (a co-working space where Explain Everything has an office) to produce a short, 5-part podcast series in support of a larger project they were working on in conjunction with Entrepreneur Magazine. The details for that project are still emerging, but Steve and I were given the go ahead to start sharing content now, especially since entire episodes may not be used as part of the larger project. Below is the audio hosted on soundcloud. There should be a way to download the file locally. Once we have the third episode mixed and ready we'll transfer the content to iTunes and Stitcher for easier subscribing and listening.

I made the map below by inserting a web browser, searching for a world map, cutting out a screenshot using the cut out tool, tracing over sections with the Draw Fill tool (same border and fill color) and finally deleting the background image. Looks pretty good and is easy to replicate.
I'm diving into the audio book version of Dan Pink's To Sell is Human, partly out of general interest in the connections the author is able to make between sales and the way humans generally operate. It is also partly of out of research for a possible next writing project. Here is a video of a nice dialogue between Adam Grant and Dan Pink. I've been following the emergence of a really nicely designed and delivered thought leadership source: Design.blog. I took some notes on an article written by Julie Zhou, a design lead at Facebook, and have included them below in animated format. Made with Explain Everything on an iPad Pro and edited in iMovie on a mac (sped up time (12 minutes to 34 seconds) + music added). Today marks one year for having done a post every weekday without missing a post (some days I did catch up, but they are all there. Next up for 16 Bars will be 10-12 expanded versions of ideas composed with the hopes of publishing a full length (30 minute) album on iTunes before christmas.
